Actors Equity Newspaper Review
It was Standing Room Only in the New York Council Room on January 13, 2003 as over 140 Equity members turned out to hear entertainment/ career coach Barbara Deutsch speak on Boosting Your Career to the Next Level. Many West Coast members are already familiar with Ms. Deutsch from the series of free events she has presented in the LA office.
This, her first seminar in the NYC office, helped kick off the year for the Eastern Membership Education Committee.
Ms. Deutsch says that she is a huge fan of actors, and loves assisting them to get out of their own way so that they can shine in auditions and other professional meetings. She brought an inspirational message to those in attendance about how they can find and fuel their own "competitive edge." She also offered several specific "tools" that actors can use to keep themselves grounded, present and connected in stressful situations.
"We were thrilled at the turnout," said Christopher Eid, Equity's Outreach & Education Coordinator. "The initial feedback from the event has been very positive. We hope to continue sponsoring activities that will support the career development of our members in new ways, in addition to our traditional task of informing members about the rights, responsibilities and benefits of union membership."
